Adding support for processing emails without attachments
Welcome to our weekly product update. Each week, we highlight Briefcase’s latest features and AI improvements designed to make bookkeeping and accounting workflows simpler and more efficient. Here’s what’s new.
Processing emails without attachments 📧
Sometimes, receipts and invoices arrive in the body of an email rather than as attachments. Briefcase now fully supports processing these emails seamlessly:
For emails that do not have an attachment, Briefcase automatically creates a PDF of the email body
The PDF is then scanned for all essential details, categorised and assigned VAT
Duplicate detection works as usual, if the user uploads the same transaction again (as an email or manually created PDF), Briefcase will automatically detect it and handle it as a duplicate

What else we’ve shipped 🚢
When editing multiple lines on an invoice, tax and total amounts now update dynamically based on unit price and quantity.
Fix: Briefcase now correctly submits descriptions for newly created accounts in your Xero chart of accounts.
Fix: Deleting transactions for a disconnected Xero connection now works as expected.
