Welcome to our weekly product update. Each week, we highlight Briefcase’s latest features and AI improvements designed to make bookkeeping and accounting workflows simpler and more efficient. Here’s what’s new.

QuickBooks Online Integration 💼 <> 🟢

Briefcase now fully supports QuickBooks Online (QBO).

How to add a QuickBooks account

  1. Go to your Dashboard

  2. Click Add client and Connect Quickbooks account

  3. Continue in QBO connect flow

What does QBO integration mean?

✅ Two-way sync: The full chart of accounts, tax rates, and suppliers are synchronised from QBO. Update an invoice in Briefcase? It will update in QuickBooks. Update an invoice in QuickBooks? It will update in Briefcase. You can even create new ledger codes directly in Briefcase.

✅ End-to-end invoice processing: Briefcase will extract all the information (including descriptions!) from uploaded invoices and receipts and use this to assign an appropriate account code and tax rate.

✅ Publish invoices: Invoices and receipts can be published either to the Bills section or Expense section in QBO, facilitating all different QBO plans.

✅ AI learning: Published transactions are memorised and used to improve future categorisation—no need to manually set supplier rules!

✅ Email integration: Forward transactions to your dedicated Briefcase email, and the system will automatically scan both attachments and the email body for invoices or receipts.

✅ Smart duplicate detection: Duplicate transactions are detected and archived automatically, even if the document type differs.

✅ Smart transaction detection: Emails forwarded to Briefcase which don’t contain valid transactions are automatically archived.

✅ Automatic multi-line split: Invoices and receipts containing multiple VAT rates are automatically split based on the different VAT rates in the transaction.

✅ User permissions: Manage user access for both QuickBooks and Xero, and invite your clients to the platform with ease.
