💼 Product Update — 26/8/2025

AI Autopilot

Welcome to our weekly product update. Each week, we highlight Briefcase’s latest features and AI improvements designed to make bookkeeping and accounting workflows simpler and more efficient. Here’s what’s new.

AI Autopilot

We’ve launched AI autopilot to automatically review every transaction and autopublish those that meet following criteria:

  1. Legible document

  2. Complete data extraction

  3. Historical consistency with at least 3 previously published transactions

How it works

Document Legibility

We extract key data points twice and compare the results. If they match, the document is considered legible.

Data Completeness

All essential fields must be captured:

  • Document type, reference, date, due date

  • Supplier (must be an existing supplier)

  • Total amount, tax amount, and currency

  • For each line item: total amount, tax amount, category, VAT rate

Document type must be invoice, receipt or credit note.

Historical Consistency

We look up semantically similar past transactions. For example, an Asda grocery receipt may be matched with similar Tesco or Sainsbury’s receipts.

  • If fewer than 3 comparable transactions are found, we won’t autopublish.

  • If enough matches exist, we weigh similarities (e.g., supplier consistency matters more than description).

  • Only when the evidence is strong do we autopublish.

Learning from your decisions

AI Autopilot adapts over time:

  • If you edit an autopublished transaction, similar future ones are less likely to autopublish.

  • If you leave them unchanged, future similar transactions are more likely to autopublish.

Autopublish decision is viewable in individual transactions:

You can differentiate autopublished transactions by the magic wand next to the published badge.

Availability

You can enable AI Autopilot for each client today in Business Settings. Starting September 1st, it will be enabled for all clients by default, with the option to opt out.
