💼 Product Update — 3/3/2025

Expense claims for QB, supplier VAT registration, automatic image rotation and more

Welcome to our weekly product update. Each week, we highlight Briefcase’s latest features and AI improvements designed to make bookkeeping and accounting workflows simpler and more efficient. Here’s what’s new.

Expense Claims for QuickBooks 🧾

Last week we release our first iteration of expense claims that allowed our customers to create and publish Expense claims to Xero. We’ve launched the ability to publish to Quickbooks too. By default, expenses will post to the publishing destination configured in your client settings, but you can easily override this on a case-by-case basis using the dropdown menu next to the Publish button.

Supplier VAT registration status

Building on our recent HMRC API integration, we now display verification for supplier VAT numbers. Simply hover over the magic wand icon next to the VAT rate to see the verified status.

Automatic image rotation

We know that receipts and invoices often come in various orientations, especially when captured on mobile devices. Our new automatic image rotation feature ensures that all uploaded photos are correctly oriented, enhancing both data extraction accuracy and the review process for bookkeepers.

Other things that we’ve shipped 🚢

  • bugfix: posting negative amounts to Xero and Quickbooks

  • Improved transaction detection for forwarded emails. We've enhanced our ability to identify transaction-related attachments in forwarded emails. Now, only the relevant items appear in your cost inbox, while duplicates and non-transaction documents are automatically archived.

That’s all for this week. Have any questions, ideas or feedback? Hit reply to this email and let us know.
